April Favorites

Can you all believe it is that time of the month again?! It feels like last week I was doing my January favorites. So this month has been a bit hectic mainly because I have been planning and getting ready for this holiday (that I had to keep really quiet about) so everything has alway been about comfort. I also discovered pilates this month which has made me feel incredible so that has also been reflected a bit in this months favourites.

If you stare at this long enough you start to see grey dots. It's weird.

(Top Left)
At the beginning of this month, I got my hair bleached, I know can you believe it! I actually bleach my hair. Now I have been bleaching my hair since I was about 12 years old and managed to keep it in really good condition. But the last time I got it bleached I don't know why but my hair ended up becoming really frazzled and frizzy. So because of this I was told to try a toner the next time I had it done, so I did. The only problem was the toner was WAY to ashes for my hair and made me look like I was a mix between a grey and a brunette. So I knew I had to try and wash out the toner, luckily I remembered my mum using this shampoo when her hair was made to ashy. Within one wash my hair was back to the platinum blonde that I know and love. So if you need to really cleanse your hair I really recommend this stuff as it leaves you hair feeling unbelievably clean.

(Top, Center)
As I have said time after time Eyeko is one of my all time favourite brands for anything to do with eye makeup. I find that they are so pigmented when you put them on which is really hard to find when you are looking for a pen liner. It also stays pretty well. I mean it's not like a gel liner which will stay until you take it off. But it does to pretty well for a liquid one.

Smashbox Full Exposure Palette
(Top, Right)
This Palette I am loving at the moment! Its actually my first ever Smashbox palette I have ever owned but I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I originally brought it because I was getting pretty bored of going to my Naked pallet all the time. I did think that it wasn't going to be very pigmented and it was just going to be crap really. But I found it to be really good and actually a few of the colours being more pigmented than my Naked Palette.

Yeo Valley
(Middle, Left)
I know, I know a weird thing to be putting in my favourites. But I think actually every day this month I have had the same breakfast which is this yogurt with some granola and now I can not survive without it. It's not to think, It didn't taste like that awful stuff you used to get at school for dessert and its healthy for you so you win all round!

Topshop Large PU Backpack
(Middle, Center)
I'm using this backpack at the moment and I find it so useful which is why it has found its way into my favorites. After having a handbag I have had to carry around since I was a little girl I never actually realised how nice it is to be out and have nothing to carry. It has been so lovely, I haven't forgotten my bag somewhere and then had to rush back to get it and I still look stylish!

Sweaty Betty Retreat Jumpsuit
(Middle, Right)
I actually think this was in my favourites last month but I don't actually care. This is the comfiest piece of clothing I have every owned in my life. I can literally where it anywhere and with anything and it still looks good. I have actually lived in it all this month. Don't worry I have washed it.

Pilates
(Bottom, Left)
So at the beginning of this month, I actually discovered that I have a pilates studio about 5 minutes away from my house and I mean you all know me I will try anything once. So I went along to a class and found that I absolutely love it. I never thought I would say it but I actually prefer it over yoga. I think because it's not just about your flexibility but you are also strengthening your whole body. Which I definitely need. So I have been to about 10 classes so far and I have seen such a difference in my body. I am 100% stronger than I was at the beginning and I just feel fit. Which is weird to say but I do.

Touch of Silver Keratin Shots
(Bottom, Center)
So If you remember from my first product in this long post I have had a few problems with my hair being really damaged and being the wrong colour. So I went to boots and found these little things. They are like a little miracle solution in a bottle. I actually have never had my hair feel this healthy and I have been to hairdressers and paid a lot of money in the past for treatments. But none of them made my hair feel as silky as this.

Amazon Kindle
(Bottom, Right)
I'm so proud of this last one. I FOUND MY KINDLE. I mean if you're reading this Mum I never lost it.... But yeah, I hadn't seen it in ages and then it just appeared out of nowhere. I forgot how much I love this little thing. I mean its thinner than my phone and holds millions of books. It must be Magic.

Packing tips for makeup

When traveling abroad one of the most heartbreaking things that could in fact ruin the whole trip is opening your suitcase only to find your foundation has exploded all over your clothes and your palette's completely smashed.

Wrap all palette's in bubble wrap
This has to be one of the oldest tricks in the book, which obviously works incredibly well as people are still using it. But this is something that whether I am traveling around the world or just into Shoreditch for a photoshoot I always do. I mean it is easily fixable but I don't know about all of you but to me, it never feels the same.

Seal all 'Spillables'
This is something that can take 5 minutes to do all your makeup. Get a really strong cello-tape or masking tape and just seal all edges on any liquid makeup. I love doing this because I know without a doubt anything I have packed is going to be completely safe from having pale foundation all over and  as I wear a lot of a black this is a bit of a worry.

Invest in a good makeup bag
A lot of the time when you have bad spills or cracked powders it is due to the bag you are using being absolutely rubbish. So it is definitely a good idea to invest in a good one. The things to look for are waterproof lining so if you do have a spill you can wipe it all out. Something that is really important as well is a really good seal on your bag. I am talking a double zip here.

Music Playlist

Hello everyone! I finally worked out how to share a playlist! One thing that is really important to me is music. Since I was a little girl my house has had a big obsession with playing music on full volume no matter what time of the day. So I thought for the first time ever I would share with you guys a few things that I like to listen to.

What to do in a reading - Psychic Sundays

For years and years, people have been doing to tarot readers or fortune tellers as we are so often called. But one thing that no one really knows is the etiquette in the reading itself, yes there is an etiquette.

1. Don't be scared of us!
I can't tell you how many times I have had a client walk through my door and look like a deer caught in headlights. We aren't going to start performing spells whilst looking into our crystal balls. Most of the time we just want to sit there with a cup of tea and have a nice natter.

2. Don't ask us to perform spells!
Yes, this is in fact a daily question I get. So if that is what you are looking for within a reading, you have gone to the wrong people. The best we can offer you is the promise of a tall dark handsome stranger taking you on many adventures. That was in fact a joke.

3. Don't be scared of the Death Card
I know you have all probably seen horror movies where the poor cheerleader turns over the next page in her book only to find the Death Card sitting on her lap. Then the camera pans out to see a masked figure holding a knife to her throat. In the real world, the Death Card is actually the best card you can ever get. It means the end of a bad error in your life, whether that being physically or mentally.

ALL EYES ON ME HYDRATING EYE GELS - Most Wanted

This week my most wanted item is MaserAide's Hydrating Eye Gels. I can't tell you how long I have been waiting for MaskerAide to bring out a new product other than their usual sheet masks. So as you can imagine I can not wait to get my hands on these little things. They are pretty much the same as Rodial's Dragon's Blood Eye Masks but more for if you are on a budget. Although I would undoubtedly be buying MaskerAide's gels. I have always found that anything by MaskerAide is always really hydrating and god knows how but is always packed beyond belief with their incredible serum.

The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag

Hello everyone, I was recently tagged to do this wonderfully truthful tag by someone (who does not want to be named...ahem...Zoey). So here we go and just so you all know I have been told that I must be truthful or else... so...yeah...

1. Name a beauty regime that you rarely do?
Oh god. This is where I am stripped of my beauty blogger title. Probably washing my face at night. I always do my morning skincare without fail. But at night, all I really want to do is go to sleep. So sometimes just using a face wipe is deemed good enough.

2. Is washing your make-up brushes something that you do regularly?
Yes!! I actually do wash my makeup brushes weekly as I am really scared of germs and the thought of all those little buggers on there then being wiped on my face sends shivers down my spine.

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
Well, I get my nails done every 2 1/2 weeks so if they are chipped they will have to wait until that time period is up!! For example, at this moment in time I am actually missing a whole acrylic nail but since I am not getting them done until Saturday it will have to wait.

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing a beauty product, even if you need it?
I don't tend to put buying a new product off, but I have actually never replaced a product ever. As I always seem to find something bigger and better than the one I had before.

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
My worst beauty habit without a doubt is biting my nails. I have done since I was a very little girl and have found nothing to stop it. Which is why I have acrylics as it is, in fact, the only way I found that I wouldn't bite them.

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?
For me, everyday is a struggle to get myself going for the say, so it's probably that. It is a bit of a fight within myself to actually stop watching Netflix in the morning.

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready to the last minute?
It really depends on where I'm going. If it is like a big night out or something then I actually find the getting ready part as part of the night itself. But if its 7AM and I'm heading out to work then I will start getting ready at about 7:45AM.

8. Can you commit to spending bans?
Nope,Nope,Nope. This does not happen at all. As soon as a paycheck comes in it goes straight out.

9. How organized is your makeup and nail polish collections?
I'm actually doing a post on this in the future. My makeup is super organised and always have been. The only thing that I would say isn't very organised is, in fact, my nail collection as I don't really have a lot of polishes at the moment. So they are all sort of in a bag under my couch.

My new tarot deck!! - Psychic Sunday's

Hello everyone! Happy psychic Sunday today 's post is going to be a quick look at my new tarot deck. I actually got this deck for my birthday but it only just arrived. Now I am obsessed with these two new decks. I think every tarot reader in their e will come across a deck that they just have this undeniable connection with and for me it's with this deck. As soon as I opened them I fell in love. So these are two separate decks but I use them together as a single deck. I use the vessel deck as more of a topic card and then the actual tarot deck as my story. So both of these are by an independent designer who is Mary Elizabeth Evans and they are called Spirit speak cards.

Makeup On a Plane

So we are getting to that time of year again where everyone is thinking or going on holiday soon. Yes, people, as terrifying as it is to think that it is holiday season again just think soon you could be sitting in a nice deck chair enjoying a lovely view of the sea or if you are 20 and going on your own you could be enjoying a not so nice view of lots of people at it. Whatever floats your boat.

I like to believe a lot of you are like me and do not, in fact, wear makeup on a plane, well saying that for a short haul flight I probably would. But all of the flights I usually go on are 8-9 hours so for that amount of time in a plane I hate wearing makeup. But that doesn't mean that as soon as I hear I am 30 minutes from my destination I won't whip out my makeup kit and actually put some on. My one rule though for anything that I put on after a flight is that it is light, the last thing you want after being in a stuffy plane for hours is heavy makeup look.

So let's start with the base which is Bobbi Browns Stick Foundation I actually recently had this in a post for makeup that lasts all day. So not only will it last a long time after the flight is also felt really light and is virtually weightless on your skin. But I also feel it has a perfect coverage and is easily adaptable to, however, your skin is so whether being on a plane makes your skin feel really oily or dry it will still make it look flawless. Because it is in stick form it also is spill free!! Which is exactly what you want. Next, it is time for a concealer which is another Bobbi Brown product so this is their concealer duo and again perfect for traveling. It is incredibly smooth and literally reminds me of a moose, but like the stick, it doesn't take up a lot of room and is also spill proof.

Now let's move onto the eyes, for on a plane, I like to keep it really simple and just really have a flick of eyeliner and a load of mascara. At the moment, I am obsessed with Eyeko for all things to do with my eyes, I think it is all so well packaged to start off with so you won't get any spills whilst it is in your hand luggage. They also have so many types of each product I believe they have 15 different mascara formulas so it is definitely something you need to pick for yourself. I personally have a bespoke mascara which you can get in Selfridges and Harvey Nics.

After I have waited for everything to set I then move onto the lips which I really don't use a lot of product on as I suffer from incredibly dry lips so my EOS lip balm is next to me at all times but as a lipstick I use Cliniques chubby stick in whatever colour I feel like for that day as I do actually own all shades. I love theses chubby sticks they are such a good lip balm on their own but also have such a pigmented colour in them.

Lastly, we have my little extras, starting with my little pot of Nivea creme as I am sure you have heard me preach many times before I am obsessed with this stuff. I use it on everything and never have a tub more than a hand reach away from me so obviously this is on my plane must haves. My actual bag itself is the Trich McEvoy planner. Not only is this a good plane makeup bag but also a really good one for your bag. It keeps everything neatly inside and it also has 'pages' for eyeshadows and powders.

So that's literally all the makeup I have on after a flight. It doesn't sound a lot for me does it?

Makeup that lasts all day

If you have been a follower of my blog for a while you will know that I actually did one of these posts waaaay back in the beginning. But I thought now was about time to do an updated version, with products that I really and truly swear by (if they don't work I will personally give you my address to come and tell me I told you so, that's how much I believe in them).

I actually did a review on this late last year but I feel it needs to be brought up again as it is just amazing. This foundation I can put on at 8:00AM go to pilates for an hour do a whole days work and then go out all night be back home at 4AM and still have it look the same as I put it on. I just don't get how that works!! It has to be magic!!

Now again I did actually do a review on this god knows how long ago and found out just how amazing this lipstick is. Not only is it really pigmented and comes in loads of gorgeous shades, but I found it to last not only 16 hours as it stated but to actually last 24hours. Even after 24hours I still had to get a strong makeup remover to get it off. I can say without a doubt that if you want kissable lips then this lipstick is the way to go.

I love this eyeshadow base, I found it a few years ago when I was over in America (when you couldn't get NYX in the UK) and loved it so much I thinkI brought about 8 tubs of it. Not only is it an eyeshadow base that will make your eyeshadow last all day without creasing, I also found that it really makes your eyeshadow pop. It also comes in quite a few different shades which are all just as amazing.

Bobbi's foundation stick is one of my staple items because it doesn't just stay all day it is also just such a quick solution to your makeup routine. Quickly swipe it on like war paint, blend it in and you are done. It has such a lovely finish to it as well , it doesn't look cakey or oily it just looks like your skin.

5. Illamasqua Brow Gel & 6. Illamasqua Precision Gel Eye Liner
I have sort of grouped these last two together as I feel they both have a lot of the same qualities. To start of these two beauties will last not only all day but literally until you take them off. Seriously, even if you decide to take it off a week after they will still be there cheering you on. They are both typical Illamasqua products, extremely pigmented, the exact texture you need to be able to create a masterpiece and enough stay power to but a bulldozer to shame.

So to conclude if you want makeup that will actually last a week or more give some of these a go and do tell your thoughts on them!

My favourite tips to hide dark circles

One of the downsides to being extremely pale is that when you do have dark circles under your eyes (which I do a lot) they are really hard to hide. Pretty much impossible actually, so I thought I would put together a few little tips and tricks that I have tried and tested to work.

The Lipstick Method

This method has BLOWN up recently even though makeup artists have been using this trick for years. In case you have been living under a rock for the whole of 2013-now then let me explain how this method works. Before applying concealer under the eye gently blend in a red lipstick but do be careful that you are really blending it in. As I have seen quite a few people where it looks like their puppy has just died.

The Triangle Method
One of the most common mistakes when concealing the under eye area is just doing straight under the eye (like the right side of this picture). Instead of doing that you w3ant to be concealing into a nice big triangle (like the left side of this picture). This now only makes the optical illusion of not having any dark circles but is also the very first thin Makeup artists teach their students about contouring. As this is phase one of highlighting, this particular are will give your face a lot more dimension to it and will make your face and nose look thinner.

Cleansing crystals - Psychic Sundays

Crystals have recently become a common thing in most people's lives, whether as decoration or using for their true purpose. But the one thing that people don't do at all really is clean them. Now when I say clean I don't mean dusting them off so they look shiny, what I mean is cleansing their energy.

The main use of crystals is to cleanse all the bad energy around them by sucking it all in. But once it has sucked in all the negative energy from around the room where does it go then? The answer is nowhere, it stays right inside that little crystal. Which is fine I mean once it is inside the crystal it won't come out but once the crystal is full it won't be doing really anything. So once a month it is a good idea to cleanse them so you can use them to their full potential.

To cleanse crystals most people use the elements Earth,Wind, Water and Fire and I am going to explain how you use each one Starting with Earth this perhaps is the easiest and less work one to do, all you do is bury the crystals overnight. That's it, just bury them whilst its dark go get them in the morning, rinse them under the tap to get rid of the dirt and you are done. Next is the Wind which isn't really the wind but  oh well. For this one, you would leave your crystals next to an open window for a week and let the breath. The only problem with this one is that you have to leave your window open for a week which I find just a pain.

Next is the water, this one is as simple as it sounds you literally give your crystals a bath, fill the sink (or bowl) with warm water and put some essential oils in there if you feel like it. Wash them until you feel they are clean and then you are all done. Lastly, we have the fire one, this one involves an incense stick. Light your stick and then slowly let your crystals dance through the smoke again until you feel they are clean. That's it! It is so simple and none of them really take more than an hour of your time but trust me it is well worth doing at least once a month.

What Am I Reading? - The Eternal Ones

So this week instead of reading a new book I decided to re-read my favorite book of all time. Which is 'The Eternal Ones' by Kirsten Miller. This book is one of those books that changes your life, well it did for me anyway. I think more because at the time I found this I was going through a lot in my life personally and felt very alone in the world, this book sort of comforted me with the idea that there is someone waiting for you out there in the world that loves you unconditionally. I know it sounds silly, but when you are going through a really tuff time in your life it really is nice to feel loved. I have attached the blurb at the bottom so if you are into reincarnation and soppy romance novels then you really need to check this book out.

The Best and only way to remove black heads

Blackhead is something that everyone in the world suffers from no matter what they say. For some people, they do not see them at all but for others, it is something that really bothers them (like me). I have seen so many posts all over about different way to remove them, even one person swearing that rubbing toothpaste on their nose got rid of theirs. Yes, there are many natural ways of removing blackheads but they never fully get rid of them, they normally just take away the top, not the full thing. So I thought I would share with you all how the professionals remove them and also how I remove them.

Step 1: Cleanse and exfoliate you face, this is something you should be doing before any treatment you are about to perform on your face. It helps to unclog all your pores so you can really get into your skin.

Step 2: Steam your skin, whenever you are removing blackheads the  very first thing you should be doing is steaming your face. This opens your pores and lets you get them out without damaging your skin. You can easily do this with a facial steamer or by leaning your head over a bowl of hot water for a minimum of 15 minutes.

Step 3: Using the extractor tool, is the easiest and the least painful way to do this is to firmly press one side of the extractor loop on one side of the blackhead and then to firmly push down and pull across the skin. Now this will be painful but trust me it is well worth it. The first time you do this it may take a while but trust me with a lot of practice you will get faster.
The extractor tool.
Step 4: The aftercare, once you are sure you have gotten all the blackheads out you need to wipe the area you have treated with some warm water. This makes sure you have gotten all the gunk off your skin. Then apply a soothing moisturiser on after. Be careful that you are not putting anything harsh on after as not only will it sting like hell but could also damage your pores.

There you have it, not only is this a really cheap method but it also really works which is why they still to this day use only this method in salons.

Remember. Pain is Beauty.

Opening A New Tarot Deck - Psychic Sundays

Hello everyone happy Sunday!!! Its been one of those weeks where I thought that this day would never come. So for my birthday, my lovely mother brought me a gorgeous new tarot deck which you will be getting a post on very soon. But I thought I would share with you the sort of technique to owning a new tarot deck. It's not as simple as everyone really thinks, there is a lot of thought that must go into it. Mainly because they aren't like a deck of cards that you can just open and start using, they will be something that you rely on for all your decisions and your personal growth so there has to be some sort of connection there.

So the very first thing to do after opening your first deck is to cleanse them, now every single person in the world of tarot has their an own particular way of cleansing their cards so you've just got to find yours. The time you know they are properly cleansed you will feel it in your heart. But until then just cleanse them in the traditional way, this is by touching each card and imagining them clean and untouched. You can also if you feel like it spray some oils on them (which is what I do).

After you have done that you are ready to start learning what each card means. Most if not all decks come with a little book explaining what each card means, this needs to go straight into the bin along with the original box. The only way to learn what each card means is to actually sit there and look at each one and think what does the image on the card mean to you. The meaning may actually change over time or even change reading to reading, but that doesn't matter at all. The thing that matters is what you feel it means as that tends to be what the person needs to hear.

How I organise my blog

One thing that I have never been good at in life is organising things. So when I started this blog for about a year it was a bit hit and miss with how I did it and stored my idea. I can't tell you how many scrap bits of paper and folders I went through! But after a lot of research and a great recommendation by a friend I found the incredible site Trello. It works quite similar to Pinterest, you have your main board on it and from there you can make lists and individual things to do.

As you can see above this is a little mock up of what it actually is, on the full website you can change the name of the lists and what is in each box. I personally have a Post idea list where I keep all the ideas I have for upcoming posts, I then have my schedule on the next list (you can add dates and times things are due on each item). I then Have a list for my series so I can keep track of them and finally a list for posts that need ongoing research and or will take a long time to produce.

The thing I love about Trello the most is that they also have an app, So I can have it on my phone at all times and constantly be adding things to it. This is not a paid advert at all and is just my opinion in case you are all wondering, Trello doesn't even know I have in fact posted this. But definitely go check it out as it has really changed my life as I don't just use it for work I know use it in my personal life too.
